Naish 12', 14', & 17' Glide
We just received the first AST version of the 12' Naish Glide (MSRP $1599)...
We have a hard time keeping the
12' Naish Glide (MSRP $1899) in stock...these new AST models are going to be RED HOT at that pricing level...

Also, coming in August is the new 14' Naish Glide and the new 17' Naish Glide...these boards are already very competitive...L@@K at the results of the OluKai SUP race last week...

"Maui presented the competitors of the 2009 Olu Kai race from Maliko to Kanaha with unexpected and untypical conditions. Due to the absence of wind, the Maliko run which is usually windy turned into a California style paddle board race with glassy conditions.
Dave Kalama set his new Naish Glide 17’0” preproduction sample to good use winning the unlimited class, while Jerry Bess,Kai Lenny and Michi Schweiger proved the Naish Glide 14’0” to be a board to count on by winning their classes in the 14 foot fixed fin category.
Neptune Paddles has a couple of pics of Dave Kalama and Kai Lenny from the race...

Naish is now looking forward to see new Glide boards prove the current success during the 4th Annual Naish Paddle Championships on Maui."

Cali Central Coast Goes Off!
We finally had a great run of surf with equally great weather...and, a few pics and
customer testimonials are starting to trickle in from our STOKED clients...
Howzit Warren & crew,
Thank you for taking the time to set me up with the Kanaha Quick Blade paddle.
It was late in the day and I appreciate you helping me out.
Great customer service!
Mahalo,
Woody (Santa Barbara County, CA.)
Hey Wardog, whats happening?
Bro, I can't say enough good things about my 9'8 and the customer service I received from you guys.
The surf in Pismo Beach has been off the chain lately, giving me a chance to put my SUP to the test.
Here is a photo from the other day. The sets were about 8' to 10' and my board did not let me down.
Cheers!
AJ Santana (Pismo Beach, CA)Here are some Photos from last Sunday in Santa Barbara County - 80 degrees outside at noon.

Santa Barbara Return to the Pier Race
Mahalo to
Santa Barbara Outrigger for hosting the "Return to Pier" race yesterday...couldn't have picked a more gorgeous day for a paddle...unless, you picked one of the other 13 days in the last 2 weeks that have been warm and spectacular...one of the best runs of Winter weather anyone can remember...

The Standup Paddle Sports paddle racing team, once again had spectacular results...
Lots of photos to hash through...but, we'll share a few now and then add lots more over the next few days...
Our shop manager, John Becker, came within a few seconds of the winner of the Men's Open SUP...
Here's John Becker congratulating 4 time Olympian, Jim Terrell, who owns QuickBlade paddles...he won on a BARK sprint board with steering...

SUP Women's winner Vicki Mills on her new BARK...

New SUPS paddle race team member Ernie (EJ) Johnson wins Men's 12'6" class SUP...

He also delivered a bundle of gorgeous new handbuilt hardwood SUP paddles to us...
more on that later...
We had a great time chilling with EJ and his beautiful wife, Andie, who also raced...

Olympic Gold medalist, Rich Schroeder, found his new 14' BARK much to his liking...

Our newest team rider, Matt Becker, (John's nephew) did a phenomenal job at his first race...this 14 year old kid smoked most of the field...
Also, a new addition to our shop personnel...he is bright, polite, and athletically gifted...he took 3rd at the Rincon Surf Classic last year...which , coincidentally was held this same day, so he opted to SUP race...

New dad, Bryan Fernandez, throwing a little stoke on a gorgeous Santa Barbara day...
Great guy to have as a neighbor...another of the SUP firemen in town...

SUP sisterhood...nice to see the wahines out paddling...

Another gorgeous Santa Barbara paddling day...the standup paddling mecca of North America...

Oceanside Becky Stuart Memorial race
A few more random pics from last weekend's Oceanside Becky Stuart Memorial race...hosted by Oceanside Outrigger Canoe Club...

The turn at the final marker, before the sprint inside the jetty, found an exciting race for 2nd through 6th place in Unlimited Men's SUP...a few board lengths separated them...

Rob Rojas put together a nice race and already had 1st firmly in hand as the boys rounded the last mark...
Team SUPsports' (that's us...;-) John Becker had his hands full on a brand new 18'6" Bark...wrong fin...standing too far back...but, at least at this race he wasn't on the beach collecting seashells at the start...;-)
He still pulled in 4th behind Rojas, Terrell, and Shahinian...

Team SUPsports' Rich Schroeder and Bryan Fernandez couldn't make this event...we should have them back next weekend for the Tecolote 5000 in San Diego...
Our team rider, Vicki Mills, had 1st place SUP Women's wrapped up...her first go on the production BARK/Surftech 14' Expedition SUP...

Here's Amanda Harris powering into 2nd...

and our VP, Debra Keys-Thomas coasting into 3rd on her BARK...

EJ (Ernie Johnson) took 2nd in Men's Stock SUP...he is a fierce competitor and has beaten the best on any given day...

EJ is a master finish carpenter...and has been making some awesome wood SUP paddles beautiful finish work...great flex...clean & smooth exit...we are now carrying the Johnson "Big Sticks" at our shop...

SUP'er Holidays
WHAT a great new family sport standup paddling is...
WHY not give the gift that keeps on giving this holiday season?
WHEN times get tough...
GO PADDLING...
WHEREVER there is H20...
We've just spelled out the 3 "W"'s of SUP...actually 4...;-)
In these tighter economic times we've had lots of families lately coming into our shop to get outfitted for standup paddling...it makes a lot of sense...
What else are you going to do...sit home and freeze in the dark?...;-)
Heck no...you're gonna start having "staycations"...utilizing the nearby water recreation resources at your disposal...
Standup paddling is doing something healthy for you and your family...and, it's outdoors...
Standup paddling is way less expensive than a gym or country club membership...ski boat...hair transplants...boob job...or, even a psychiatrist...;-)
You can utilize a nearby body of water for nearly everyday recreation...have we said that already?...;-)
Standup paddling is the funnest core body workout on the planet...that's saying something...
YOGA ON WATER...mind...body...spirit...soul...
Standup paddling is less dependent on the elements of wind, waves, tide...etc...
L@@K around...you can always find a protected body of water...and now with the new Coast Guard regs, you can paddle in any harbor with a fanny pack PFD/whistle kit...
Standup paddling has reduced our gas consumption chasing waves and wind...making it a greener sport...
We could go on and on...but, you're already reading this standup paddle blog for a reason...so, it's prolly like preaching to the choir, huh?...;-)
Here's the dealio...
WE HAVE MORE STANDUP PADDLE BOARDS IN STOCK AT OUR STORE THAN ANY SHOP ON THE PLANET...over 140 QUALITY SUP's...we know what VALUE is and excercise our buying power to ensure that you get the best bang for the buck...
We have containers of boards rolling in monthly...here's one from yesterday...

Another container arrives at the shop...good thing for weak minds and strong backs!!!...;-)
Just kidding...Mike C. was a key player in the development of Windows 95...but, don't hold that against him...;-)

Staging a few boards before moving them into our shop...

Our extensive knowledge of the standup paddleboard market will help you make the right buying decisions...we've been there from the beginning and opened the first, and still, only dedicated SUP store on the North or South American continents...
Our inventory is fresh,
FIRST CHOICE, Grade AAA, cherry picked...we've been ahead of the SUP curve the whole way...we've NEVER had to settle for leftover boards with poor design because that's all they can get like many of the virtual mail-order online stores popping up online daily with a greedy gold rush mentality...posers...it's really getting pretty ridiculous...standuppaddleboardwarehousedirect-hucksters.com
Our knowledgeable and friendly staff, in addition to having years of SUP experience...has hundreds of years of collective watersports and outdoor pursuits experience...surfing...windsurfing...kiteboarding...kayaking...fishing...diving...and hangliding...snowboarding...skiing...and snow kiting to name a few...
We can talk the talk...AND do walk the walk...
We've already discussed the WHAT, WHY, WHEN, & WHERE...we also do the HOW...
Our blog and website is full of pictures of "never-evers" morphing into standup paddlers...we've taught hundreds and hundreds of clients here in the local waters of Santa Barbara, California...the standup paddling mecca of North America...it's an amazing and deeply satisfying feeling for us...truly a "warm fuzzy"...
We're very appreciative of the dozens of folks over the years that have dropped us an email along the way with their
CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS...
To show our appreciation, we are offering a few deals to stoke your holiday cheer...
Because of our volume buying power, we have purchased a bundle of
Starboard 12'2"'s...12'2" X 26 5/8" by Mark Raaphorst ( top Maui based SUP rider and shaper).

More pics comparing it to the Starboard 12'6" Cruiser in this
gallery...
When it first came out we really liked how it glided...great speed...and had excellent directional stability...it's been called the best windsurfing SUP because of those attributes...but, we were L@@King for a surfier ride...now, in the context of the narrower standup paddle racing boards that we've been riding, we think this is an excellent flatwater paddler and are offering these boards to people at the unheard
of price of $849...they were MSRP $1499...
These have the deep handle...numerous tie-down points on the deck for attaching a drybag or fishing gear...they also come with a center-fin option...added stability...
For a limited time...add a
Werner Carve or Advantage SUP paddle for $150...
That's $999 for top of the line, raceable flatwater SUP gear...outrigger clubs are already jumping on this deal...so act now...when they're gone they're gooooone...
If you are L@@King for a wave rider...we also have the popular Gerry Lopez epoxy 9'6" and 10'3" SUP's that others are selling for $1450...on sale for $999 pad and fins included...

We also just received the new
2009 Starboard SUP'er 12'6"...we have them in camo or stripe...more closeup pics and details in a few days...
We rode this board in Oregon a few months ago...and think it will be the best fishing SUP out there...also, the best crossover SUP/windsurf family board on the market...
The SUPer 12'6" is the World's first SUP and windsurf board with a daggerboard system. It can be moved with very little effort...and the deck knob can be unscrewed and stowed away...
As a board that gets anyone on the water in zero time, the SUPer 12'6" is the key to unlocking the potential of lightwind windsuring to a wide public. When stand up paddling, its long, slender shape glides smoothly and catches waves easily with surprising maneuverability. SUP is so easy, so fun and requires no instruction: it's the perfect summer board for the family, for hotels and for resorts. The bonus: it's opens the gate to the wonderful World of Windsuring too.
With its integrated mast track, its daggerboard system and itted with a windsuring sail, you have a lightwind windsurfer that glides beautifully across calm waters, a board that is maneuverable for lightwind waveriding and for old-school lat-water freestyling. With 30" of width, it's also a stable platform for progressing windsurfers and for dads to teach their kids how to windsurf.
A true crossover between two sports and two generations, the SUPer 12'6" is really 'super'. A classic design that opens a whole new world to a whole new audience.

Mistral Pacifico Wave

In our relentless quest to bring you the best standup paddling gear in the world, we test new gear delivered to our shop doors in Santa Barbara almost daily...we're now ready to offer you guys a board that we've been riding and sharing amongst the local standup paddling community that has gotten double shakas by everyone that's ridden it...introducing, the
Mistral "Pacifico Wave"...
This puppy is lightweight, strong, durable, nice l@@King, stable, glides well, and surfs like a dream...
It comes with a great paddling fin made of high quality G-10...factory installed pad,...and, you can throw a sail rig on it...even footstraps, if you prefer...not much more to ask for in an 11'er...
The stand up paddleboard and lightwind wave sailing longboard for intermediate to expert riders!
Catching waves with or without a sail has never been easier! The all-new
11'2" 2008 Pacifico Wave (170 liters) is biased more towards maneuverability and performance waveriding with its thinner rails, and increased bottom rocker. The lighter, stiffer sandwich construction of the
Pacifico Wave offers a more lively ride than the standard Pacifico.
For all advanced riders who’ve ever dreamed of surfing waves like Kelly – smooth, technical and with style. Designed, developed and tested by Kaleo Alfredo (Hookipa Lifeguard & Jaws Big Wave Rider).
A partial EVA foam deck pad provides great comfort and traction and reduces overall weight. The Pacifico Wave comes with a 28cm G-10 wave fin, footstrap inserts, mast track, and an integrated carrying handle.
For the full-on windsurf addict the Pacifico Wave also offers a mast track for wave sailing on the light wind days with up to 6.5m wave sails. The newly developed Scoop-Rocker line makes the board super easy to maneuver and ensures you can always be at the right spot on the wave. The board accelerates through the bottom turn to give enough power and speed for the right timing on the cut back.

Freestanding SUP Racks
When the head of our shipping department (local SUP ripper, Brian Bowie) mentioned that his son Josh is a pretty good welder...we tasked him to weld up some new freestanding (or wall boltable) SUP display racks for the shop...

These racks will be commercially available soon...there is already a waiting list...almost everyone that's seen them wants a set for their board quivers...
Josh makes some pretty wicked beach cruisers...

He also makes some pretty kewl old skul aluminum sk8boards:

Santa Barbara Fog Chaser Race

The
Santa Barbara Outrigger Canoe Club hosted the
27th Annual State Sprint Championships on Saturday...and followed it up today with the 5th Annual Fog Chaser Race...newly added standup paddle division...turned out to be a 6 miler, instead of 5, because somebody's GPS unit was off...;-)
Conditions were quite challenging with lots of sideways bumps and a head wind...the nasty current wasn't showing anyone any love...but, nothing like the
32 mile Molokai to Oahu race today...20+ kt winds and 7' seas were predicted...incredibly,
early reports are that Jamie Mitchell wins for a 7th time at 4:57:14...20 minutes ahead of 2nd place...and Duane Desoto won the standup division at 6:47:06...
Here's part of the start line of our little race...

Rich Schroeder showed that his world class Olympic competitive swimming skills transferred well to standup paddling by taking 1st place on my 14' custom Sean Ordonez...

A smart tactical move at the start kept Brian Fernandez at bay on his new 14'8"
Starboard ...

The wifey won the women's division on a stock 12' Hobie...
