Unheard of in Santa Barbara music history...prolly most other places as well...
Combining the love of surfing with music and food is IMO, the perfect embodiment for a perfect day...ya know what is kewl..."life is good today"...is another way of saying "Stoked for Life™"...no wonder it resonates...;-)
We got to hang out with the band (as well as some other kewl people...;-) and sample some of the recipes in Zac's new "Southern Ground" cookbook, at the "Eat & Greet" a couple of hours before the show...
Holy shmoly was it good...Zac is a former restaurateur and chef...
One really kewl thing is that they bought as much local ingredients as they could...choosing to shop at the smaller Lazy Acres instead of the bigger Whole Foods chain...
Here's a vid clip that I made that captures just a few of the evening's cool moments...includes Bob Marley's "One Love"...
We also got to hear several songs from an upcoming new record...one, that Zac says is the best he's ever wrote...I'll highlight that at a later time...
Cold brewskis at the "Eat & Greet" were supplied from Margaritaville...Land Shark Lager...be sure to check out Friday's (March 19) premiere of CMT Crossroads: Jimmy Buffett and Zac Brown Band together...
"Brown often performs a medley of his "Free" and Van Morrison's classic "Into the Mystic" in concert, but here it takes on a giant new fullness with the addition of Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band. As the easygoing song swells to truly epic proportions, the two groups reach a collaborative fever pitch just as the country/jam rock/reggae mix peaks. Since both bands are used to that mix -- with one foot on the beach and one in a pine forest -- this could be one of the most natural Crossroads pairings yet."
Happy St. Paddy's Day :: Welcome to SB Zac Brown Band
NEXT FREE SUP DEMO IS NOW SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 28...CALL OR EMAIL SHOP TO RSVP...
I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand
Life is good today. Life is good today.
-- ZBB
Those are the lead kickoff words from Zac Brown Band's record ..."The Foundation"...that's been tearing up the charts and won him a Grammy Award this year's for best new artist...
Life is good today...couldn't have said it any mo' bettah...
The surf has been pumping with the air temps in the 80's...the Jasmine and Spring flowers in the air are intoxicating...life is good today...
The new 8'10 double wing round pin North Pacific is working really good...real shortboard feeling...loose in the juice...
Surf was a little bigger today so I ran a pair of small flexy sidebiters to complement the keel twins...nice having fin box options...I have to admit, I'm a bit of a fin tinkerer...always have been...
Grammy award winner for best new artist, the Zac Brown Band is out from GA on tour and is playing Santa Barbara tonight...we'll be hooking up with the ZBB before the show for an "Eat & Greet"...
"Brown launched his Southern Ground record label in 2009 and signed Atlanta based artists Sonia Leigh, Levi Lowrey and Nic Cowan. In addition to the music, Brown also is launching a line of steak rubs and barbecue sauces under the Southern Ground label, and—in partnership with photographer Jeffrey Skillings and writer/bandmate Coy Bowles—is preparing the release of his first cookbook. As Brown notes, these projects have their roots in Zac’s Place, a lakeside restaurant he used to co-own and run. “For me it’s about creating something that’s really excellent,” he says. “People are going to be blown away by how good the products are.”
Dunno if Zac will be cooking up our typical St. Paddy's Day menu...but, whatevers it is should be a might good...we're just supposed to bring our appetites, thirst, and typically good attitudes...;-)
Oh yeah...life is good today...
