All Werner Performance and Premium blades are
carefully hand crafted using a pressure molding
process of high quality fiberglass or carbon
weave materials and epoxy resin. Our pressure
molding process has proven superior to other
processes in achieving the right balance between
light weight and durability.
Each of our Performance Core, Performance and Premium blade designs
has a carefully engineered lay-up that is molded
around a light performance core rib or a full performance core
center. For added durability specialized materials
are molded into our full performance core blades.
Our Recreational lines combine our advanced
blade designs with carbon or fiberglass reinforced
nylon to offer kayakers the only recreational
priced paddle to be recognized for its’ light
swing weight, performance and smooth stable stroke!
Werner’s commitment to be technically
innovative has allowed us to be the only paddle
company to manufacture its own shaft in-house.
We’ve developed proprietary new processes
using high quality carbon fiber or fiberglass
and resign epoxy, resulting in the strongest
shaft to weight ratio for the varying demands
of whitewater and touring.
Werner paddles excel in strength and are rightfully known as "bomber"!
|
Our Shaft - is legendary for its
strength! |
 |
Straight Shaft
Legendary in the paddling
community as the "bomber" shaft, our
straight shafts are constructed in house using
a composite of fiberglass or carbon and epoxy
resin. Werner is the only paddle company to manufacture
it's own shaft in house, offering both Small and
Standard diameter. |

|
Neutral
Bent Shaft
Newer to our line up is
our Neutral Bent Shaft and Neutral Bent Shaft
Small diameter. This unique and popular shaft
is also manufactured in-house combining a proprietary
new process with a blend of high quality carbon
fiber or fiberglass and epoxy resin.
Our new process optimizes weight
and strength for the varying demands of whitewater
and touring. Living up to our "bomber"
reputation our Neutral Bent Shaft is the strongest
bent shaft for it's weight anywhere. |
Werner Paddles are warranted
to be free from defects in material and workmanship
for one year from the date of purchase. Within
the warranty period all paddles found to have
defects will be repaired or replaced at no charge. |

We test paddles in controlled
environments as well as in the field. Sensors attached
to the paddle shaft feed information to a computer program
that graphs blade flutter and shaft torque during a
simulated paddle stroke. This valuable information helps
us refine our designs to minimize flutter and torque.
We also test our paddles for buoyancy and perform several
durability and strength tests during our research and
development process.
All new products start as an idea formed from your
input. Many of these ideas are carefully transformed
into a quality product by combining sophisticated CAD
software with controlled environment tests as well as
on the water field-testing.
When a new product fulfills our performance and quality
expectations, it moves into production and is introduced
to you. To ensure each paddle continues to meet our
high quality standards several components of our paddles,
as well as the finished product, continue to be randomly
tested and inspected before it reaches its final inspection
by you. |
 |
Each component
of our paddles are weighed at several stages in the development
and validation process. Shown here, a blade is weighed
to ensure it is within our weight specifications before
it can proceed to the next step. |
 |
The right combination
of handcrafting and computerized technology ensures consistent
quality. Don McClain, Werner’s Director of Manufacturing,
calibrates tolerances into one of our shaft presses. |
 |
Each blade is held
to a light to inspect for contamination and cosmetic blemishes.
An unexpected strand of hair pressed into a blade may
cause it to be rejected and not proceed to the next stage. |
 |
Further blade inspection
and throat preparation prior to painting our trademark
throat. |
 |
A trademark of
our Performance and Premium Touring paddles is the throat.
Each Performance and Premium Touring paddle throat is
carefully treated and painted with a special paint resin
mixture. Look for the throat to identify a Werner touring
paddle. |
